This is a great thread for lurkers, and myself included, cos the indoctrinated mind immediately goes to these platitudes to answer questions, but to see logical, even scriptural rebuttals against these platitudes is great! Thanks SFPW, you speak as a true indoctrinated Jw, these answers must hurt somewhat but it's an eye opener for sure..

"God's Word Is Beneficial..." 2013/14 Circuit Assembly "Highlights"
by 88JM injust had the circuit assembly this weekend here:.
surprisingly not much fuss over the new bible considering that this was the first meeting for most here to use it (the annual meeting was "invite only" for a select few here, and there was no thursday meeting because of this assembly) and having a new bible was only referred to fairly briefly in a comment about how "wonderful" it is (and in the closing prayer).
i think i was the only one there with an old maroon nwt - i got a confused look from one of the elders - haha!

Just had ours too, they were really pushing the numbers getting baptised ww ever day, 700 I think they said... So bearing in mind that ww the increase is only 1.9 percent (I think) there must be a heckuva lotta people leaving... Oh Yeh paintball was mentioned here too, in a demo. A few of us did it recently, I saw one of the chaps I went with after the sessions, we both thought we should definitely go again!

Oh Yeh I can second what tylinbrando said, I faced a not so subtle line of questioning as if to say "what are you doing that you need to confess" .. Nice to know you're trusted. I thought this was a voluntary organisation. Can't a feller just stop? Obviously not.

I stepped down/off/across a good few years ago, just wrote a letter saying I didn't qualify , not really bible reading , heart not in it etc. . They met with me a couple times to try talk me out of it but I stuck to my guns . . Best . Decision . EVER !

Another Revised NWT Thread - subtly sowing seeds of doubt with chart
by mindnumbed inpages 1744 thru 1746 feature a chart of the kings of the southern kingdom, ending with zedekiah in 607.. praise the new bible and all of the teaching aids .... draw attention to kings list and how convenient that is ... but, strangely, i decided to look up information in an encyclopedia about the different kings, and the dates are not the same ... so i checked a couple of sources and they are all different than the chart in the bible .... why would that be?.

when the date came and went they changed their publications to remove themselves from the fiasco.

A bit of gossip.
by chrisuk ini just thought i'd share this; my mom has dinner with her jw friend on tuesdays and apparently the jw wasn't in a very good mood today... the reason for this as she told my mom is because she wasn't invited to the agm.
she's been a jw for 25 years, doesn't pioneer, but is very dedicated to the cause.
she also explained to my mom that 2 other sisters one of whom is 80 yrs old and has been a jw all her life wasn't invited either.

I can report locally (uk) there were a couple of old sisters with decades in the 'truth' chuntering about not being invited too..... And yes, we had a meeting, full of orphans brawlers bawlers and bastards. And me.
